a little tip for the apostroph. Try writing the full word without the ' it will add it automatically.
For instance if you want to write "je t'aime" (yes i'm french) just type "je taime", it should add the ' by itself. It works for most of the words.

Thanks for the tip! even if it doesn't work so well with Italian words, only few words are recognized. Anyway, better than nothing!  :agree:

I do not have that firmware, But XXIC2 is basically the same only with a few different languages and it is tested and works great!

S8300 Firmware with Route66 embedded
« Reply #67 on: May 14, 2009, 07:32:00 AM »
Hi All,

"New" firmware for S8300 with Route66 Navigator embedded S830NXXIC3, this firmware is not really new, since it's from 16th of March - but it's the only one available so far with the embedded Navi.

Maps are free, connecting and can be downloaded connecting the phone is mass meory mode to the PC, but for the navigation you need to pay in order to unlock it.

S830NXXIC3:

"SamsungNavigator" folder to be copied to the MMC:

http://www.mediafire.com/?tk0jizdrzfz

The update procedure is as usual + unzip the file "SamsungNavigator.rar" and copy the "SamsungNavigator" folder into the Root directory of your Memory Card BEFORE starting the Navi program.

The Route66 Sync program for the PC can be found here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?mmnfkomggym

or check the latest one on the Route66 Site:

Hi everyone, I am looking for the Three (3) UK firmware for the S8300.

Bit of a strange request I know, but I have got myself a sim only contract with them (three/3), but I have a unbranded uk s8300 blue. When I try to install skype it fails with a certificate error because the phone isnt 'three' branded.

Could someone check the firmware name for the UK Three s8300 and post it on here, so I can search the net to find it, or if one of the brilliant mods could help it would be great. Thanks

S8300XEID3 is the latest floating around elsewhere.
S8300XEID3 includes route 66 aswell.

Things I noticed since moving from S8300DXIC2 to S8300XEID3:
-T9 SMS with ' char is easier, in that it works as expected.
-Phone contacts scrolling via volume keys scrolls by the correct amount of contacts. Previously it scrolled 1 too many so each "page" worth of contacts would skip over an entire contact.
-Alarms can no longer do vibrate and melody closest now is vibrate then melody :(
-Bluetooth now works with my TomTom Go 720
-Route 66 included (in what I think is Russian)
-seems to respond slightly better to touch, I am less often now having to click things over and over again to make it happen.
-widgets for facebook, myspace, photobucket, youtube, flickr and others.
-keypad autolock "when sliding down" will now lock the phone even if somethings was left open.
-the builtin GPS location stuff actually works now (phone settings->GPS settings->GPS position)

Things I'm still hopeful for:
-QWERTY keyboard for SMS
-a way to "lock" the position of things on the desktop. I'm still forever moving things around accidently everyday.
-I dont get why anyone would want the desktop to be able to scroll up/down. You need an "empty" space to be able to scroll it and there just isn't enough room to leave an empty space for scrolling. You either have few widgets and have room to scroll for no reason or have many widgets and wont have any space to be able to scroll? The entire idea just seems pointless. Do any of you guys use this feature?
-new to this firmware, the event notifications (eg miss calls/new sms) widget once auto added for either event will persist on screen as "no events" after all events are acknowledged instead of auto closing.

It isn't Route66, it's a java based app embedded for the Russian market, Route66 it's better, if you can pay for the license, of course  ;D

No, I don't think is possible, it's not a java app.
