Hi there everyone & a happy new year to all forum members...
i aquired my phone a few weeks ago and was wondering if it would benefit from a firmware update, at the moment it says <sw ver> S8000XXIG3 ... <csc ver> S8000XAIF3(ED011) ... <ffs ver> XEU ... any advice would be much appreciated.. thank-you.. O_o

Welcome to our forum, macarena, and a happy new year to you, too! :)

What language do you want to use? Because we have lots of FWs in our FW section. If you want to have the latest, fastest and most stable FW out there, you'll be happy with the S800MCEJJ3. If you want a bit longer battery life, you'll be good with the S8000POJB1.

Flashed it to S800MCEJJ3 yesterday. However, KIES need not be a prerequisite as against stated in the DFG Flash guide.

Thnx DFG

Yes, indeed! As KIES doesn't work well with the Jet, we'll swap it in the guide with NPS, thanks!

know, if you're texting a lot, T9 is more convenient, but S800MCEJJ3 (or S8000POJB1 which is older, but has longer battery life according to Addyhash's experiences) has a lot of advantages over your current FW - it's your choice

I have flashed my Jet by following DarkForests' tutorial, so now it has S800MCEJJ3.
Equalizer is operational again, Serbian T9 is, of course, gone but I think I'll manage without it. So what I have to say is one BIG SHAME ON YOU SAMSUNG. This is my first Samsung phone, and these kind of problems are certainly not the best way to convince me that I have made the right choice by buying one.
Anyway, what's done is done, and you guys from forum made it a lot better, so one more BIG THANKS and all the best to you:)

You're welcome, and all the best to you, Astrotrain, too!

You know, after the Jet I have bought a Samsung I9100 Galaxy S2, and it's a MONSTER - a little bit too big, but fast and furious monster in the most positive meaning!  So the problem is the Jet has a more than adequate HW, but its FW isn't open source - there are nothing like mods or custom FWs for it...

If you look on the bright side, the Jet has a brilliant screen, has a nice camera, is capable to play DVD resolution videos - if JetDroid would finally made it, it would be a big hit!

Just for the record: I also had that equaliser problem after a recent update, and because of that problem yesterday I also upgraded to S800MCEJJ3. But it still had that bug. I then, being very much puzzled, flashed two other, older firmwares and still had that bug.  O_O
And then, just as I had found a work-around (using the diamond button), I discovered that 5.1ch was activated - and that overrules the equaliser.  :P
So I now also have S800MCEJJ3 and no equaliser bug.  :)

Well yeah, to be honest I have figured it out on my own few days ago, but I was so mad at myself that I just wanted to forget about the whole thing, because as it turnes out, I could have had a serbian firmware AND the working equalizer if I was just a little less of an impatient idiot. So now, my only hope is to wait and pray that these fine people on the forum dig out from depths of internet some generic serbian (there`s a T-mobile firmware I know, and I have tried it, and it`s awful) firmware version and then upload it in the firmware section for me to flash my Jet.
Pleeeeassee  heeeellllppp!!!!     ;(        ^_^

Hello, i'v got Jet with S8000XXIF5 software. This one i think is really old. I use polish language. I'm looking for new, good software.. Better than i'v got now. And also i'v got question about software. What type of software i need to install? Any ideas?:)
If its possible i wanna that the ram memory would be better (ex. there is 256 mb ram memory but when i'v got big site its error and its show me it isn't too much memory to open it). So i asked where is mine RAM? ;o

greetings from poland ;)

Hi BlackPatrick

the newest firmware we have that contains polish support is XPJG1, available HERE , the software you require is called 'multiloader' which is also available from the above link,  also please take the time to read through the guide ( also at the linked page) before you carry out the reflash.

ps: some firmwares handle RAM distribution better than others, but unfortunately some sites with a lot of JPG's etc can cause the Jet to pop up insufficient memory :(

No, CEJJ3 only covers 900/2100 bands unfortunately,  the only firmwares we have that run on the 1800 network are: LVCIG2 & BVJIG3, but neither have turkish support :(

S8000 Firmware Questions - Australia
« Reply #176 on: January 26, 2012, 12:47:52 AM »
Hello all,

I've gone through a few posts/threads and I am still lost... your help will be greatly appreciated.

[TL;DR version]
1. Would it be possible to get a firmware for S8000/S8003 for Australia?
2. If I install a new firmware, will it delete everything that I've got on the phone, e.g. contacts, messages etc?
3. If so, is there a way to back up contacts, msgs, etc when the phone loops with booting, i.e. cannot connect to the PC.

[Full Version]
1. Would it be possible to get a firmware for S8000/S8003 for Australia?

Some backgrounds:
Location: Australia
Model: S8003 (based on the phone sticker); but when I press [Volume Down] [Camera] [Power] buttons together, I get 'GT-S8000'

I've found the firmware list page (http://darkforestgroup.com/forum/index.php?topic=3617.0) but... it said not to use the firmwares for "S8000M (Australia)". Then down the page, I found "S8000XWIF6" for Australia. So, while the warning said not to use them, I thought "S8000XWIF6" would be okay, as it listed Australia and clicked the link.

Then I found out it was hosted by MegaUpload... and I can't get the firmware... :(

2. If I install a new firmware, will it delete everything that I've got on the phone, e.g. contacts, messages etc?
I wasn't able to back up my phone (stupid me)... Some said it does not necessarily delete everything? I am hoping for the best, but I get a feeling that the whole thing will be gone...???

3. If so, is there a way to back up contacts, msgs, etc when the phone loops with booting, i.e. cannot connect to the PC.
My phone loops at the booting stage - once the bar is filled, it changes to the mobile service provider logo then reboots (and this is repeated). Is there a way to 'backup' what is stored on the phone memory before I get the new firmware? I've tried to connect it with the PC Studio, but it's asking me to turn the phone into "PC Studio" mode, which obviously, I can't do...

Welcome to the Darkforest Group zxxxxz,

The warning on our firmware page is for Telstra Next G users as it uses a different bandwidth,  If you are with Optus or Vodaphone, or Amaysim, you will be fine.

The best firmware I recommend is CEJJ3,  it is stable and runs fine on the 900/2100 networks.

Unfortunately all data will be wiped during reflash, and without being able to turn phone on, you have little choice.

There is another program called TKfile Explorer, which will back up the entire phone memory, but unless you knew the files that hold the contact data, you cold brick the phone swapping back across... ( i think phone needs to be in pc studio mode for this )

hopefully you have sufficient battery for reflash ... and make sure you read our guide carefully also available HERE

Thank you so much for your kind words and response.

I have tried TK File Explorer, but when I connected the phone an error message popped up and said 'The communication link is lost'... It briefly showed 'P' drive on the left hand pane but when I clicked OK on the error message, P drive was lost.  ;(

So, it looks like I cannot recover my files as is. So, another question would be...

Could I use one of those recovery software after I flash the phone? They claim high success rate (and claim being the key operative word...).

Regardless, thank you so much for your help so far. Greatly appreciated!!!
