Hello everyone!
Greetings from Serbia. I have bought my Jet few days ago. When I installed New PC Studio it offered firmware upgrade. My old firmware was S800XFIF5, and after successful upgrade it became S800MXFIJ2, but it seems to me that it causes a problem with equalizer during playing music. Namely, after the upgrade, when I want to change equalizer setting, it lasts only until the point of saving the new setting and exiting the menu, because when I do that, sound changes to the default one, despite the new setting that stays saved and declared as the chosen one. In light of the questions I am going to ask, I must add that I am a heavy T9 predictive text user. So my questions are :
  1. Do you think that the equalizer problem is firmware related?
  2. Are T9 and firmware intertwined in a way that I must have Serbian firmware installed if I want to have Serbian T9 support? This question is related with the first one, because if they are meant to be used together, that means that either I am stuck with my faulty localized firmware because of T9, or I can flash the phone to some another firmware but then I lose my T9 Serbian.
What would you do?  Thanks in advance!  :)

First of all, welcome to our forum!

1.) if it was good (the equalizer setting was saved) before the upgrade, then the answer is yes,
2.) I think the T9 support is available for the supported languages only; I have checked, and only the XF firmwares (like your current and your previous one) have Serbian support.

So if the T9 is mandatory for you, and you think XFIF5 didn't have the equalizer bug, then you should go back to it, or if you can live without T9 and want a more stable FW containing less bugs, then you should try S800MCEJJ3.

Thank you for such a fast reply! You guys really do a great job out here on the forum!  :)
As for the matter in question, I pretty much assumed that I would have to choose between such options. I`ll have to think about it... hard!  :)

You're welcome, and thanks for your kind words!  :)

I know, if you're texting a lot, T9 is more convenient, but S800MCEJJ3 (or S8000POJB1 which is older, but has longer battery life according to Addyhash's experiences) has a lot of advantages over your current FW - it's your choice. (I'm Hungarian, and my original FW had support for the Hungarian language, but I have sacrificed it for a lot of improvements, as I wanted a fast and stable phone.)

I have flashed my Jet by following DarkForests' tutorial, so now it has S800MCEJJ3.
Equalizer is operational again, Serbian T9 is, of course, gone but I think I'll manage without it. So what I have to say is one BIG SHAME ON YOU SAMSUNG. This is my first Samsung phone, and these kind of problems are certainly not the best way to convince me that I have made the right choice by buying one.
Anyway, what's done is done, and you guys from forum made it a lot better, so one more BIG THANKS and all the best to you:)

You know, after the Jet I have bought a Samsung I9100 Galaxy S2, and it's a MONSTER - a little bit too big, but fast and furious monster in the most positive meaning!  So the problem is the Jet has a more than adequate HW, but its FW isn't open source - there are nothing like mods or custom FWs for it...

If you look on the bright side, the Jet has a brilliant screen, has a nice camera, is capable to play DVD resolution videos - if JetDroid would finally made it, it would be a big hit!

I would like a suggestion from you guys: I´m from Brazil and got a Jet from UK, with Vodafone FW (I think, it appears on screen at turn on and off). Current FW and CSC are:
S8000ACIF4
S8000VODIF6

The phone in unlocked and is working nice, (3G, GPS, Wifi...) good battery life and so. I´m not using GPS navigation yet (asks a license to 'drive to'). Should I keep this firmware or get a better one? I miss the twitter app, and the current flash player appears to not work very well (flash games not work, like Nanaca Crash :P )
Not mandatory to be in portuguese, english in ok too.

Only thing is that I got a headset on eBay that connects at the 'multiport', and it does not work, just the phones connected at the 3.5mm port, and just for music, not for calls, is this right? I ordered a 3.5mm headset now, hope this one work.

Thanks!

Welcome to The Darkforest Group Surfin!...
Firstly there are alot of newer firmwares that yours,  but from memory Brazil uses the 850/1900mhz network... unfortunately if this is so, I would leave the UK vodaphone firmware on there as it might be compatible ... as the only 850/1900mhz band firmware we have is LVC1G2, which is only one month newer than yours.
If your network carrier uses the 900/2100 network, then i sugest CEJJ3, it is the latest...
Secondly The jet's genuine headset has a microphone jumper harness ... the 3.5 jack is a little longer so that the jet will recognise for use for calling.

Wishing you all a Happy 2012 first of all.

I want to upgrade to S800MCEJC3. Recommended FW on darkforest is S8003DDJB1 (Usage is in India)
I need to understand, what extra does a regional specific FW has to offer over and above the S800MCEJC3 if a person is comfortable with English?

But I have a scene here and need your guidance :-

a). I have, by mistake, formated my internal memory to NTFS.
b). KIES does not support my Jet (reason unknown).

Now what is the procedure for me to flash my Jet?

Thanks
Knownsense
Current FW : <SW VER> S8003JPIF4 <CSC VER> S8003JPIF1.

Hi Knownsense,
the latest firmware is CEJJ3, available in our firmware section HERE there is also our flash guide, and the program required is called multiloader.
Yes, unfortunately the jet is not compatible with Kies.

Thanks Addy,

Yes, i went through the guide, however the 1st point in the Steps to follow states that Kies should be installed on the pc and jet should communicate to it. But as you just specificed, Jet does not support Kies. So what should be the steps?

Even the rest of my doubt remains unanswered.

Please guide.
