You can flash any Android based Samsung to a modded firmware that does not contain the Touch Wizard. This make a great deal of improvement to the user interface. But the HTC and even Iphone have a very sweet interface that is unique to there phones.

so u r saying that the new galaxy can be easily flashed with a cyanogen firmware?

and would it have to be rooted first?

Major pro's of Galaxy i 9000 have been mentioned by most of you..................but major cons also need their due share:

1) A very feeble loud speaker, reminding us of the Iphone speakerphone.
2) Samsung's notoriety in upgrades through official lines.
3) No Free GPS software (like in highend nokia's).
4) No flash for the camera.
5) No dedicated Camera key.

The pro's are a huge list though::
1)1500 mAh Li-Ion battery
2) 4" 16M-color Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution
3) Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g and n support
4) Great audio quality on speakerphones
5) Layar , swype etc

Initial impressions are awesome for this ............so gud that I m thinking to upgrade to it................
but i just fear that it shouldn't be an extra hyped phone like the JET. The JET was equally promising and hyped up but somehow in less than 6 months it got pulled out of the market by samsung. Its price came crashing from 23000 to 13000 in just 6 months and then the model itself became obsolete.

What say frnds:: Is galaxy just a too hyped up phone (like the JET) or is it a sure shot success reciepe???

...and some more pros:

 - 1GHz Hummingbird chip, the fastest and powerful around
 - Lower power consumption and better outdoor visibility
 - Mobile AP on Android 2.1
 - Android plus samsung widgets
 - Samsung apps plus android market
 - The thinnest and one of the lightest android phones
 - The internal storage memory of 8/16GB, and almost 2GB of dedicated memory to apps
 - One of the best with regard to true multi-touch capability
 - The best android video player (including DivX and Xvid decoding)
 - One of the best phone HD video recorders
 - ...

   Some TouchWiz 3.0 pros:

   - Multiple desktops that can be removed when not in use
   - Possibility of rearranging the position of the apps in the menus, including in the bottom quick access menu
   - Top bar with useful buttons for quick access to wi-fi, bluetooth, ...

I'm giving it a chance! For me and after everything I've read and seen, Galaxy S is one of the best, if not the best, android phone available at the moment! Can't wait to get one in my hands!!   :agree:

Finally we get to see a taste of froyo on I9000!   :yahoo:
Here's a first glance at a modded Samsung Galaxy S with Nexus's One Froyo like interface!   :agree:
(Now we just have to wait for samsung to release the real thing! TouchWiz+Froyo!)

i thought i was not going to get another samsung but i just got one for someone and this phone blows the nexus out of the water, so i think i'm not going to be able to part with it.
it's so thin and light and the screen and screen response is phenomenal. Even on the lowest setting it is very bright and sharp with high contrast. great camera and video. not tried much else yet.
There is however a lag when pressing the back button in some situations, most likely due to touchwiz, which is good but the iPhone like-icons are stupid.
i also don't see why the home button is a hard key while the others are soft.
Even without froyo, the hardware is just too good to pass up, especially at almost the same price of a Desire.

And here is a video that answers some questions about the Galaxy S, and you can see that we can have the Android system with TouchWiz 3.0 plus "LauncherPro" which is similar to Nexus One:
Samasung Galaxy S: ATT 3g ... More questions answered.
