New forum policy?
« on: April 07, 2012, 10:33:37 PM »
Right, sometime soon I am going to give this whole board a right clean up, and this is how Android devices boards will be like.
There will be a new Android Applications and Android Themes section, and each Android device will have a child board for Android Development on that device
One more thing - if a board has a low post count, it will get moved to a 'Low Activity' board so the more active models can have some more room.
New rules will also be put in place, along with a few more additions to the moderation team.
What do you think?

A fine idea..
Many boards are dead, which can be moved to 'Low Activity' board
And the idea of new Android Applications & Theme Section is also good.

Just a suggestion..

Can darkforest have the "thanks" option like some other forums have.

This can increase the activity on the forum as more people will start replying to other's problems/queries.

I know the plugin exists.. Its called Karma. The reply I gave above is what Darkforest gave me when I had asked him of it. If he is ok with that, I can activate the plugin. It will indeed help the users.

Because of the nature of the karma thing users can "Applaud" or "smite" which could lead to users abusing the system so it would be best to disable smite.  Another precaution to take would be to use a karma limiter plugin to limit users to 1 "Applaud" per post/PM.  If you want example of this, I have temporarily set it up on starmods with the intention of taking it back offline in a couple of days (unless darkforest says otherwise).  In the example, I have limited the applaud to 1 per post/pm and also deleted the smite field (just by deleting the [smite] in the admin settings) as well as renaming the applaud to Thanks which seems more appropriate than applaud.
Feedback on this is appreciated :)

If someone helps you or posts something usefull, press the thanks button.
P.s the package you found is probably better than the karma system but it is incompatible with some of the plugins starmods uses and probably this forum as well so I didnt chance installing it on starmods

I would have loved to have that from the start, my s8000 firmware questions section has had 18000 hits...
my thanks button would have worn out lol...
