Is Simo still working?
« on: October 29, 2011, 05:58:22 AM »
hey guys, i'm back. nice to see the new design of the site  ^_^

to the topic:

i just checked the montedroid kernel, android list etc. which was last updated in may 2011. the same when i checked his progress at github. really dissapointing.

I'm not blaming anyone for not working, but he must know that he is trusted to get the montedroid working. you guys can get help from xda, really. I'm a senior member there and maybe i can get them to help with the bootloader.

Sorry for my bad english, not really confident when posting stuff like this.

I don't get it. If you guys think dat the so called "xda"(donno wht does dat mean) can really help, why the xda guys themselves didn't make and release it?I mean dey'll get good ratings and all. right?

sorry if this is termed as spam.i don't mean to.
Enjoy while you can

because the guys over at xda developers have their own phones to mod. do you really think that they are going to help port android to Monte either for free, which they won't, or if they don't have the phone. HTC's HD2 only has android because so many people on xda have one

A little something I learned from decades of experience, and being a open source RCE and engineering talent way before OSS existed: When you create a scene around a project and abuse accumulated information, people who could productively contribute tend to not take interest in collaboration..

On most projects like this for embedded devices, information the devs accumulate tends to be used in popularity contest rather than put in public domain making the project more attractive to someone who just wants to assist for results..

One thing I found through my own efforts being a new 5620 owner, is that you don't need modified cables for most things. 'Master ROM' has a handler for USB bus that handles writing, this includes second stage boot loader range which is what this team is trying to create(first stage can't be written unless there is a accessible hardware interface). For android kernel you can't fit memory setup in the allowed space and have to jump to a loader.

The only reason I'm looking into the 5620 is to fix my own issues with baseband data, my options are get the information from here or spend weeks or months reversing millions of bytes of mode handling code, some of which will require expensive hardware to dump because of kies range limitations..

EDIT: One thing I always found annoying with embedded device scenes is how everyone is trying to exploit everyone else and nothing ever really gets done..getting information that would otherwise be trivial is like pulling teeth as a result..
If you're interested in a useful S5620XEJI2 IDA database and have skills to contribute, then contact me. I also have information on writing and executing custom ROM that I will exchange for info on writing baseband info over USB modes.
